If you’re one of those people doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “travel light,” you’re going to pay through the nose if you’ve got more than two bags or a suitcase that weighs more than 50 pounds.”
If lugging those golf clubs or snowboards through the airport is just more than you can take on your next vacation, consider shipping your bags ahead.
Call it the flier’s revenge: With airlines starting to charge for checking even one piece of luggage, more travelers are just shipping the suitcases on their own.
What started as a premium service to help avoid the headaches of checking items is now looking more attractive to fliers, who feel that if they must pay to transport luggage, it might as well be on their own terms, according to companies that specialize in shipping luggage. The companies’ fees are much pricier than airline surcharges, but they do promise the convenience of door-to-door service.
