Luggage shipping is a travel service that provides door-to-door luggage, sports equipment, and miscellaneous item delivery. By shipping your luggage, you can bypass the labor of bringing your luggage to the airport, checking your baggage, waiting for your belongings at the baggage claim, and hauling them to your ultimate destination. With one call or a few clicks, all you need to do is pack, and leave the rest to us.

How much does shipping my bags ahead cost?

The cost depends on the service you choose, the size of your luggage and the speed in which it needs to arrive and/or depart. Please refer to our Quote page to get a quote immediately.

Can I ship non-luggage items?

Luggage Ahead will forward your sports equipment including but not limited to golf clubs, bicycles, skis, snowboards, scuba gear and more. Family items such as car seats, strollers, and portable cribs can also be shipped; as well as miscellaneous items and boxing for any destination or occasion. How do I book with Luggage Ahead?

Go to the Order page and fill out the required fields. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. You will then receive your arrival and departure travel documents, luggage tags, and welcome packet. Please affix the luggage tags to the corresponding piece of luggage or item to be shipped. You are now ready for having your bags collected. Please follow the enclosed instructions for coordinating your pick-up.

What are the advantages of shipping my luggage versus checking my baggage?

Luggage Ahead provides you with a first class service while eliminating the hassles of airport check-in. We have our representatives track your shipment so that when you arrive, your luggage will be there. For customer security, all shipments have $500 insurance for domestic travel and international travel, with the option to increase.

How do I arrange for my bags to be picked up?

Where can I have my luggage picked up?

Luggage Ahead will pick up your luggage anywhere. We typically arrange to have your luggage picked up at your home, office or hotel.

Do I have to box my items or do anything out of the ordinary?

No. Simply have your items ready as if you were carrying them to the airport yourself. Luggage Ahead will take care of the rest. Golf bags must be in an airline compatible case or cover, skis must be in an appropriate ski container. The same applies to boots and bindings. Bikes must be in travel cases. Even with these items however, you do not have to do anything beyond what you would do if you were checking the items at an airport yourself.

Is there a limit to the number of bags or a weight limit per bag?

Unlike the airlines, there is no limit to the number of bags you can ship. The maximum weight limit per bag is 150 lbs.

Can I pick a specific time for my bags to be picked up?

Yes, all regular pickups are between the hours of 1pm and 5pm. The option for special early morning or after hour pick-up is available as well as narrowing to a specific time window. You can choose a specific pickup time when ordering online or call us at 888-295-4410.

Can I have my luggage picked up or delivered on the weekends?

Pickups and drop-offs are available for limited areas for a $15.00 fee. Our normal delivery days are Monday through Friday. Deliveries are always scheduled for the next business day unless pre-scheduled at time of order. Please indicate in our special instructions when ordering online or call us at 888-395-4410.

How far in advance can I schedule a pickup?

Luggage Ahead allows you to book a shipment up to 6 months up to 24 hrs. prior to the pickup of the first leg of your trip.

What if my luggage arrives late?

Luggage Ahead will waive the shipping charge for any item that arrives late due to the fault of Luggage Ahead and it’s agents. We do not waive charges for shipments delayed because of special circumstances such as weather, acts of God. Luggage Ahead also will reimburse you for expenses deemed to be directly related to the delay up to an amount of $500 per piece of luggage. If you are shipping sports equipment and your shipment is late, Luggage Ahead will not only cover the cost of comparable rental equipment, but one of our representatives will arrange for the rentals to be waiting for you upon your arrival. Because international shipments are subject to the customs clearance process, they can not be guaranteed for delivery on a specific day. Please allow additional time to account for customs clearance. Can I have my luggage picked up from multiple locations and dropped off at the same location?

Yes, Luggage Ahead is flexible when coordinating shipments. We offer premium services that will accommodate your varying needs. For non-standard shipments, please call 888-395-4410 and speak to a representative to place your order.

Can my bags be picked up if I am not at home?

Yes, customers may leave their bags in a designated area that is accessible for Luggage Ahead’s agents to pick up. When scheduling your pick up, you can indicate special pickup location such as door, on a porch, in a garage, at the back door, etc. Bags may also be left with a doorman. If none of the above options are available, customers can choose to schedule a specific pickup time when you will be available.

If I ship my luggage to a hotel, can I have the bags arrive earlier than my check in time?

Yes, hotels and resorts will allow their guests to send luggage that arrives earlier than their check-in time. In many cases, customers should arrange to have their luggage delivered to the hotel the day before their arrival.

Are there different shipping options?

Yes, we offer Next Day, 2-day, 3-day. And Economy 5-7 day services. Transit times are based on Monday-Friday deliveries. Our economy service is not guaranteed to arrive on a specific day.

How do I book my return trip?

You may book a round trip online or by phone during your initial order. If you are returning with a different number of bags, simply book additional one-way shipments online, or call 888-395-4410.

What if my return order changes?

If you need to change any part of your order, please call 888-395-4410 to speak with a Luggage Ahead representative.

Can I ship my luggage using one service for the outbound leg and another for the return trip?

Yes, you may choose varying service types for each leg of your trip. Many customers will use an expedited service such as Next day or 2-day for the outbound trip, and the 3-day or Economy service for their return trip.

What can’t I ship?

Luggage Ahead follows the standards enforced by the TSA. Please refer to the Terms of Service to see a list of prohibited items. Shipments of animals, weapons, drugs, explosive and hazardous items are strictly prohibited.

Should I secure my luggage and lock my bags?

Always have your own personal identification tag (name, address and phone number) on each bag or item being shipped. For added protection, also place personal identification information inside each bag. Bags should not be locked per FAA regulations.

How will I know the status of my shipment?

A representative will contact you by your preference of phone, fax, email, or text upon delivery. Of course, you can call us at 888-395-4410 or email us at support@luggageahead.com anytime for a status update. Please refer to you unique order # given to you at time of booking.

Can I ship my luggage to another country?

Yes, we do ship to many countries. Shipping your luggage to an international destination is similar to a domestic shipment, but additional information is required for the customs clearance process. Depending on the destination and service level, international shipments usually take between 3-10 business days. Please call us at 888-395-4410 for more information or to book you international shipment.

What documents do I need for an international shipment?

Outside of the standard luggage tags and air waybill, a customs invoice will arrive in your welcome packet and must be prepared in advance of your luggage pick-up.

How much is my luggage insured for?

Luggage Ahead includes a $500 domestic and international insurance policy on the contents of each bag.

What does the insurance cover?

The insurance covers lost or damaged luggage. Normal wear and tear that can be expected from transit or any commercial flight is not covered. Luggage Ahead will reimburse our customers the declared value if luggage is lost or damaged. Please refer to the Terms of Service for further information on insurance options and coverage.

Can I purchase additional insurance?

You can purchase additional insurance at $1.00 per $100.00 of declared value per bag. There is a maximum limit of $5,000.00 per bag.

Is there a cancellation policy?

There is a one time charge of $50.00 should a customer cancel his/her order after the welcome packet has been shipped.

How many days in advance should I prepare my bag?

Immediate pick up is available for the last minute traveler. Luggage Ahead however recommends that the customer plan ahead so that the best affordable rate can be provided. 7-10 business days will allow for our most cost effective shipping options.

If going on a cruise, can I ship my bag directly to the port?

Yes, please call 888-395-4410 to speak with a representative to coordinate and book that service.

How will I be billed?

At the time of booking, Luggage Ahead will authorize the client’s credit card for the amount of the amount and type of pieces in your shipment based on the information provided. We will process the final invoice with any necessary adjustments after your trip is complete. Final charges may vary from the quoted charges based on the actual weight and dimensions of each item.
