Terms of Service

You the consumer agree to and acknowledge the following with respect to any services ordered by you from Luggage Ahead LLC (hereinafter “Luggage Ahead”) and luggageahead.com.

RATES

Rate quotes generated on Luggage Ahead’s website or by a Luggage Ahead customer service representative are based upon the information provided at the time of scheduling shipments. Final rates will be based upon actual weights and dimensions verified during the shipment process. If the actual or dimensional weight is higher than provided by user, Luggage Ahead will adjust the charge to the appropriate higher weight category of the piece type shipped. Dimensional weight is determined by calculating the length x width x height (in inches) divided by 194 for domestic shipments, 166 for international. Additional fees may apply for shipment pieces that are oversized. Oversize pieces are defined by over 150 lbs per piece or over 119 inches in length for domestic shipments, 109 inches for International. Shipments picked up or delivered on a Saturday are subject to additional fee.

PACKAGING

All customers are required to adequately prepare the contents of their shipments with the necessary protective measures to insure the safety of their shipments. All shipments must also be tagged with a secure luggage tag which contains the following information:

All shipped items must include a copy of the shipping label which is to be placed on the provided shipping label tags. The shipping label tags must be attached directly to the item being shipped. Luggage Ahead will not be held liable for any shipment delays or lost items due to shipping labels falling off or being removed from the item. Failure to properly adhere shipping labels may result in a delay of service or a complete loss of your package and may void any warranties expressly provided to you below. Any old shipping stickers or labels should be removed.

CANCELLATIONS and CHANGES

Order cancellations may be made up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up. Luggage Ahead charges a $50.00 fee for cancellations after the Welcome Packet has been sent. Orders cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up cannot be refunded.

Changes to pickup dates and times cannot be guaranteed with less than 24 hours of advance notice. In some circumstances, a change fee may be applied. If an additional Welcome Packet needs to be sent, a $15.00 fee will be applied. There is no charge for changes made to an order with more than 72 hours notice from the scheduled pick-up, so long as the change is not creating a shortened gap in departure time.

Changes made after the shipment has been picked up will be subject to a $10 change fee. Luggage Ahead does not guarantee any shipment that is changed or re-routed in transit.

In order to change an order in transit, you must call our customer service at 888-395-4410.

REFUSAL OF SHIPMENT

Luggage Ahead and our agents reserve the right to hold any shipment that may be deemed undeliverable for any reasons stated in our terms and conditions.

INDEMNITY

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold Luggage Ahead and its owners, employees, clients, and agents harmless from all claims, demands, causes of actions, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising from or related to your acts or omissions in connection with your use of this website or any of Luggage Ahead’s services, including but not limited to, your shipment of any Disallowed Goods as defined below.

SIGNATURE RELEASE

Luggage Ahead will allow shipped items to be delivered without a signature for shipments with a total insured value under $1,000.00. Any shipments insured for more than $1,000.00/item can not be delivered without a signature. If a shipment’s destination is a business or hotel, a signature is required for the drop off. If delivering to a hotel or business please verify that someone will be present to sign for the delivery. Luggage Ahead will not be held responsible for delayed shipments due to a business being closed at time of delivery, shipment refusal, or absence of a signee.

Luggage Ahead will not ship to a post office box.

DISALLOWED GOODS

Luggage Ahead will not ship any of the following:

  • Valuables (jewelry, china, antiques, artwork, etc)
  • Explosives, firearms, ammunition, fireworks, flammables, tear gas, mace, pepper spray etc.
  • Perishables
  • Fragile, breakable, or temperature sensitive items
  • Pets, Insects, animals
  • Cash
  • Hazardous Materials (oil, gasoline, batteries, poisons, infectious substances, etc)
  • Pressurized containers
  • Securities and negotiable or confidential papers
  • Human remains
  • Alcohol and tobacco products.
  • Illegal narcotics/drugs
  • Luggage Ahead reserves the right to disallow additional goods in the future

INSURANCE

Each item shipped will be automatically insured (EXCLUDING NORMAL, ORDINARY AND CUSTOMARY WEAR AND TEAR) for $500.00. This insurance covers major damage and/or loss of luggage up to the insured value of the goods. It does not insure, and Luggage Ahead is in no way liable, for any subsequent losses resulting from damaged or lost items. Luggage Ahead is not responsible for delays due to factors beyond our control including but not limited to, direct or indirect, acts of God, riots, customs delays, or strikes. Shipment delays due to these occurrences void all responsibility and liability of Luggage Ahead. Luggage Ahead is in no way liable or responsible for any losses or damages to property left unattended while waiting for pickup or property left unattended at the final destination.

WARRANTIES

Delayed Shipments

In the event of a delayed shipment (EXCLUDING DELAYS CAUSED BY FACTORS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED), Luggage Ahead will provide a cash stipend to cover incidental costs (wardrobe replacement, club or equipment rentals, etc.) of up to $250/bag per day, until the luggage is delivered, up to the total cost of the delivery. This stipend is available for a maximum of three days. Reimbursement for incidental costs and rental fees up to this maximum will be provided upon receipt by Luggage Ahead of receipts for said incidental costs. Luggage Ahead will make every effort to locate the luggage in a timely manner and deliver the luggage to its intended destination.

Lost Shipments

In the case of a missing bag, Luggage Ahead will have a five business day grace period to locate the lost item and notify the customer of the status of the shipment. If the shipment is not located within grace period, Luggage Ahead will then proceed to gather information to provide a claim up to the amount for which the luggage was insured. The actual claim process time will vary on a case-by-case basis.

Damaged Shipments

Luggage Ahead has no liability for damage or loss of protruding baggage parts such as wheels, straps, pockets, pull handles, hanger hooks or other items attached to luggage. If a shipment is damaged excluding “normal wear and tear” a claim must be submitted within ten days and an agent will be required to assess the damage for the claim to be paid up to but not exceeding the amount for which the damaged item was insured. Proof of value or repair cost and photos of damage (when appropriate) must be submitted with the claim. Customer must retain all outer packaging used for the shipment in order to submit a claim.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary set forth herein, Luggage Ahead will not be liable for delays that occur due to customs inspections for international shipments. If a shipment is delayed in customs, Luggage Ahead will make every possible effort to correct the problem, yet customs delays are out of the realm of Luggage Ahead’s authority. At the time of shipping, a Luggage Ahead customer service representative will make all preventative measures possible to reduce the complexity of the customs inspection process. Any fees incurred during the customs inspection process will be passed on to the customer and included in the final billing statement. You acknowledge that any goods shipped by Luggage Ahead are subject to confiscation by U.S. and foreign customs officials and other similar agencies.

Money Back Guarantee

Luggage Ahead will guarantee delivery for the transportation charges only based the transit time selected by user. A refund request must be submitted by calling our customer service dept. within 7 days of the scheduled delivery date. We will not be obligated to refund any charges for any of the following reasons:

  1. Shipment was delayed, held, or re-routed due the request or actions of the user as defined in our terms and conditions of our website.
  2. The shipment delivery was refused by recipient or if there was no recipient present for shipments requiring delivery signature.
  3. The shipment was delayed due to an incorrect address.
  4. The shipment was delayed due to Customs clearance.
  5. Delivery or Pick up location is considered outside primary service areas.

RIGHT TO INSPECT

Luggage Ahead and its agents reserve the right to inspect and open any item shipped by Luggage Ahead.

LOCKING YOUR LUGGAGE

In some cases screeners will have to open your luggage as part of the screening process. If your bag is unlocked agents will simply open and screen the baggage. If bags are locked the screening agent may have to break the locks in order to inspect the bag. ALL INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS MUST BE SCREENED AND ALL INTERNATIONAL LUGGAGE MUST REMAIN UNLOCKED. Luggage Ahead is not liable for damage or delays caused by locked bags.

LEGAL

This website is wholly owned and operated by Luggage Ahead, LLC. Of New Jersey. The agreement is governed by the laws of the state of New Jersey, USA. You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of courts in Burlington, New Jersey, USA, in all disputes relating to the use of this website, any purchases made using this website or any services provided to you by Luggage Ahead. Use of this website constitutes an agreement between you and Luggage Ahead and that you are bound by the Terms of Service, legal disclaimer, and privacy policy contained within the Luggage Ahead website.

Warranty and Liability Disclaimer

Luggage Ahead specifically disclaims all warranties with respect to this web site or your use thereof. All information on the web site, including but not limited to graphics, text and links to other sites, is provided “as is” and “as available” and may be changed without prior notice. We do not warrant the content, quality, condition, accuracy, adequacy or completeness of this information. Other than as required by applicable consumer protection law or insurance law, if any, in no event will Travelers of New Jersey be liable for errors or omissions in this information or for any losses or damages, direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential resulting from your use or misuse of, or reliance on, any such information. The information is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and freedom from computer viruses or similar disabling devices.
